An editorial case study in local brand building
Growing up, I wore a Lake Mohawk sweatshirt that represented more than a place. It was something familiar, a connection to the community I called home.
Years later, that connection became the starting point for Shop Lake Mohawk.
A landscape with room to connect
Local merchandise already existed—from community institutions and neighborhood retailers to scalable hometown-apparel sites. The opportunity was in how those strengths could come together.
More place-specific and community-rooted
Thoughtful, community-rooted design; everyday apparel; fair pricing; and an online store open to everyone.
A considered product range
Everyday pieces, Sparta-specific designs, and more expressive local collections—variety held together by a consistent sense of place.
Made tangible
The designs translate a familiar sense of place into clothing made for everyday wear.
A recognizable storefront
The work behind the storefront
I shaped the assortment, set pricing, organized the merchandising, and built a shopping experience people could actually use.

approved titles—and their description openings—standardized and verified.
A place-based brand grows through presence
Familiarity begins by entering real local moments—not by claiming reach before it has been measured.

A brand can begin with meaning
Building Shop Lake Mohawk showed me the value of a genuine connection to place. But translating that connection into a business meant thinking beyond the name and designs.
What managing the brand requires
Launching Shop Lake Mohawk was only the beginning. Managing the assortment, pricing, storefront, and customer experience taught me that building a brand requires more than a strong idea. It requires judgment, consistency, and a willingness to keep improving.
Rooted in Sparta.
Made for the community.
